We’ve Arrived
Hello everyone! After an August full of goodbyes and last-minute details, we have officially moved to North Carolina. We are overwhelmed by the abundant gifts of God, from sweet time with friends and family to cool weather upon arrival to traveling mercies, sufficient storage space, and fireflies in the evenings! We are beyond blessed. Anna’s family vacation took place the week before we moved and was saturated with wonderful moments and memories that carried us through the move. We were blessed with smooth and uneventful travel, over Labor Day weekend no less! Malachi was an absolute rockstar and made the 8+ hour trip in what is becoming classic Malachi fashion–that is, calm and relaxed. Our RV made it without incident and has turned into a very comfortable home. We are surrounded by friendly neighbors and beautiful country.
We have an orientation next week prior to Philip beginning his training, so we have a week to get settled and then the adventure begins. Thank you to all of you who have prayed for us, encouraged us, counseled and supported us. We are so grateful for YOU!
Story from the field.
In many places around the world, people speak multiple languages. Sometimes one of those languages will have a translation of Scripture–often this is the academic language used in schools–while the other languages spoken in the country do not. This is the case in Mexico, where church planter and pastor Jaime lives and works. His language is Chatino, but because he hadn’t learned to read well in Chatino, he used Spanish in much of his ministry. Then he received an audio device with the Bible in Chatino. He began listening every chance he got, and all of a sudden Scripture was alive for him.
“I am listening and paying attention to every detail of the narration. Every day I fall more in love with the one who saved me.”
He now uses this audio translation as an evangelism tool to spread the gospel to his people. Praise God for His provision, not only of the translation of Scripture into Chatino but also the tools that make it accessible to everyone who speaks this language!
