Hurricanes and Hallelujahs

Hello friends! September is here and we in Florida have survived our first major hurricane of the season. We are thanking God that our area received minimal damage from Hurricane Idalia, and we invite you to join us in praying for those who suffered the brunt of the devastating storm. I have recently been Studying Psalm 119, and verse 68 says, “You are good, and do only good. Teach me your word.” As we have been praying to see God’s goodness in the midst of terrible disasters and heartbreaking events, we have been reminded of the power and value of God’s word to know His heart, and thereby trust His goodness in every situation. We have experienced that goodness as He continues to provide for our family in our Wycliffe journey through our incredible team of partners,  so  we say thank you and hallelujah!

You are Good

Papua New Guinea has one of the highest concentrations of languages in the world, and is a top priority country for Bible translation. In 1998, a horrific tsunami hit the Arop people of PNG, killing thousands including one of the translation team members.Yet in the way that only God can do, the good fruit produced out of that tragedy is evident today. The Arop people felt the urgency after the tsunami to assist other language groups who need the word of God as much as they do. Now eleven different language groups are involved in translation in the area, and the Arop people, who have 1-3 John and Jude in print with another eight books ready to be printed, are sharing their scripture as a source text for the other translation groups to use! How great is our God that in even worst situations He is able to create good and make that good continue for generations!
