Train away!
Hello friends and family! October was a very busy month for the Mulls. We were able to spend time with several friends and family members, including Philip’s parents for several days after Hurricane Milton did a number on Florida. We are thankful for the safety of our loved ones and for the unexpected quality time with them.
Philip has started to get his hands dirty in the hangar working on one of JAARS training planes. The trainees have done some heavy maintenance on the aircraft, including the replacement of landing gear parts which had reached the allowable wear limits. It has been some great hands-on training for him as he learns the JAARS ethos and desire for the utmost excellence in all they do. Philip also volunteered at JAARS day, an expo to demonstrate the various operations within JAARS . We saw excellent turnout and enjoyed seeing people get excited about missions work through aviation, maritime, and overland services.
Anna is well into the process of transferring her speech license as she and her future supervisor work out her new job description. There are already kids on the base who are in need of speech services, so as soon as she is licensed and approved then she can begin working with them. Malachi is loving life and telling us all about it with new sounds every week. He braved childcare for the first time last week while parents were in training classes, and even had a smile on the last day!
Among other Bible studies and gatherings that we have gotten to participate in, this month we have been presented with a new opportunity. There is a local gym in Waxhaw that has been intentional about fostering community Bible studies to its members. They have a need for some leaders to start a study with the youth who frequent the gym. Two weeks ago we met with the lady who is coordinating the studies and we have our first meeting scheduled. Philip will be leading it with another JAARS staff member. We are very excited for the opportunity to engage with the local community and invest in the lives of these kids.
